Product Lifecycle Milestones
Expected service during product lifecycle periods – milestones
Activity
The Activity period begins with the General Availability of a Major Release. During the Activity period, the product continues to be enhanced with new features and capabilities (minor versions) and bug fixes are provided. The activity period for a Magic product is typically 3 – 4 years.
Maturity
During the Maturity phase of the product, no new features are added, but Magic continues to provide routine maintenance releases and patches. Magic also starts phasing out new sales of the product. The Maturity phase typically lasts 2 – 3 years.
> End of Sales
The End-of-Sales milestone means that the product is no longer available for sale to new customers/partners (MSPs can still sell applications based on the product to their new application customers).
> Beginning of Extended Sales
The End of Sales milestone marks the beginning of the Extended Sales period, where new product licenses are only available to existing customers.
Retirement
> End of Maintenance
The End of Maintenance period marks the start of the product’s retirement period. From this milestone the product is no longer maintained by routine maintenance releases and patches. Product updates may be released in special cases only, based on Magic Software’s sole discretion.
> End of Support
At the end of the Retirement phase, Magic’s standard support services will end. Customers wishing to extend their support contracts may choose to enroll in Extended Support services, which usually involve increased costs.
> Beginning of Extended Support
At retirement, the product enters its Extended Support period. Magic continues to offer support services for at least a year, typically at an increased price.
Post Retirement
> End of Extended Sales
From the End of Extended Sales milestone no new licenses are sold to anyone, including existing customers.
> End of Extended Support
The End of Extended Support milestone marks the product end-of-life. At this point, Magic will no longer offer any type of support services for this product.
