QualiTest to Provide QA Test Services for Magic xpa Customers

by Alex Woodie | IT Jungle

Speed has always been an essential element of Magic Software‘s development tools. With its metadata-driven development and runtime framework, called xpa, Magic enables customers to quickly roll out modern, multi-channel business apps that run on a variety of servers, including IBM i. Thanks to its new partnership with QualiTest, Magic customers won’t have to short cut QA in their quest for application awesomeness.

QualiTest bills itself as the second largest independent provider of application testing and quality assurance (QA) services. Its focus is not making and selling testing software, but providing testing services, which are carried out by a group of 1,400 software testing professionals who work out of 14 company offices, including some overseas. All employees are International Software Qualification Board (ISTQB) certified, the company says.

The Fairfield, Connecticut, company offers various engagement models, depending on the types of software and the QA needs of its customers, including: load and performance testing; test automation; test process improvement; keyword driven testing; results-based testing; scrum-based testing; test outsourcing; and exploratory testing. The company has experience with testing applications running on all major platforms, including IBM i, mainframe, Unix, Linux, and Windows, in a variety of industries.

Magic and QualiTest have worked together on several development and testing projects involving xpa. This experience enabled it to «develop a custom testing practice for testing Magic applications manually and automatically with a reusable test automation framework utilizing market standard test automation tools,» Magic says.

This work led QualiTest to create a formal practice around Magic’s xpa, says Neri Lavi, QualiTest vice president of services. «This partnership is an expression of QualiTest’s strategy to establish testing practices around niche software products and platforms of leading software companies,» Lavi states in a press release.

Regev Yativ, president and CEO of Magic Software Enterprise Americas, welcomes the decision, particularly in light of the time crunch most development shops are faced with. «With the push for shorter release cycles and quality improvement, QualiTest’s testing practice, based on a deep understanding of our technology platform, offers a real advantage to our customers. This partnership enables us to offer the accelerated testing service the market has been asking for.»

Magic’s xpa (formerly uniPaaS) provides a development and runtime framework for creating and deploying multi-channel applications, so-called because they can include Web, mobile or fat client Windows interfaces, and run on a variety of back-end servers and databases.
